Rosary Buddy

The Rosary Buddy ministry is an innovative way to include more people in the daily prayer of the Holy Rosary. It recognizes that not everyone can participate in in-person Rosary prayer groups due to various reasons. Obstacles such as physical limitations, mental health issues, time constraints, and transportation difficulties affect one’s ability to develop a daily habit of praying the Rosary. By offering a one-on-one experience through alternate means of communication, the Rosary Buddy ministry can help bring the mysteries and prayers of the Rosary to individuals wherever they are.

Additionally, this ministry provides an opportunity for parishioners to give back to their community by volunteering as Rosary Buddies. Volunteers can choose the days and times they are available to pray the Rosary and can use various communication methods, such as cell phone or FaceTime. The Rosary Buddy program is an inclusive way to ensure that everyone who wants to participate in Rosary prayer has the chance to do so.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Rosary Buddy ministry offers a one-on-one experience for parishioners to pray the rosary in a way that meets their needs. Alternate means of communication including a phone call, FaceTime, and WhatsApp allows people who are new to praying the Rosary (Rosary Buds) the opportunity to strengthen their love for Jesus through Mary in a way that is comfortable.

Parishioners will volunteer to be a Rosary Buddy Leader and sign up using a Google Form. The role of a Rosary Buddy Leader is to pray the Rosary with another parishioner (Rose Bud) who desires to pray the Rosary but cannot do so in person. Rosary Buddy Leaders may also be required to teach and demonstrate how to pray the Rosary. Resources will be available for all participants to aid in learning about the Rosary.
There are various communication methods including cell phones, FaceTime, and WhatsApp. A Rosary Buddy chooses his/her preferred communication method.
Schedules and time commitments differ with each person. A Rosary Buddy Leader chooses the times of day and days of the week he/she is available to pray the Rosary.
Parishioners who need a Rosary Buddy will also sign up via a Google Form. Those parishioners are signing up to be a Rosary Bud. Then, Rosary Buddies and Rosary Buds are matched according to preferred communication methods and time availability.
It is time to pray the Rosary! Participants will be notified of their matches and Rosary Buddies and Rosary Buds will coordinate and begin their prayer journeys.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

Anyone can be a Rosary Buddy! A goal of this ministry is to meet parishioners where they are in their prayer journey.Rosary Buddies can be adult men and women over 18 years of age. We are not looking for experts on praying the Rosary, but people with a servant’s heart. Resources are available on how to pray the Holy Rosary.

Anyone can also be a Rosary Bud! All one needs is an open mind and a desire to get to know Jesus through the Blessed Virgin Mary. The “Rosary is a scripture-based prayer” (USCCB) that allows us to contemplate the life of Jesus Christ and that of his mother Mary.
Parishioners who desire to be become a Rosary Buddy Leader will be given the link to a Google Form. On this form, people will indicate their preferred communication methods and times of availability. Participants will receive communication from the Rosary Buddy ministry coordinator and will be provided with resources about the Holy Rosary.
Next, parishioners who need a Rosary Buddy to pray the Rosary with them will sign up to become a Rosary Bud. Then, Rosary Buddies and Rosary Buds are matched according to preferred communication methods and time availability.Each participant will be contacted and given the name and information of their new Rosary Buddy.
The next step is for Rosary Buddies and Rosary Buds to connect, coordinate, and begin praying the Holy Rosary together.Rosaries and Rosary prayer guides are available free of charge and will be given to Rosary Buds and anyone who needs them.
